Why vinyl windows create ventilation problems
Old wooden windows always had micro-gaps through which air constantly circulated. This was natural ventilation. Vinyl windows, on the other hand, provide perfect tightness — and this is their main advantage for insulation, but at the same time a serious problem for indoor climate. 2. Micro-ventilation
Most modern vinyl windows have a micro-ventilation function. When the handle is turned to a 45° angle, the sash moves slightly away from the frame, creating a gap for air exchange. This allows air to circulate without significant heat loss.

3. Proper airing
Even without additional equipment, you can ensure normal ventilation by following simple rules:
- Air the apartment 2-3 times a day for 10-15 minutes
- Create a cross-draft — open windows on opposite sides of the apartment
- In winter, air more frequently but for shorter periods — 5-10 minutes
Tip: The most effective airing occurs when windows in the room and kitchen are open — this creates air flow through the apartment.

❌ Drying laundry indoors A single pair of wet shoes releases up to 300ml of moisture. Laundry on a clothesline in the room is a serious source of humidity.
❌ Using airtight film on windows Some install airtight film for insulation, completely blocking air exchange. This leads to catastrophic deterioration of air quality.
❌ Permanently closed windows Even with ventilation valves, it’s recommended to periodically open windows for full airing.
